After a long and taxing journey by way of Hawaii, Florida, New York City and Dubai, Mary and I, the final two team members arrived in Bengaluru. We travelled from the airport with students from Ahmedabad University in North West India. Some of the students were business students and some were engineers so naturally we discussed a collaboration. Plans were made for Dharini, a marketing student to give feedback on the website.

Upon
our arrival at Agastya’s campus, Mary immediately got to work building
the boxes with Naresh and Subbash in the workshop. I helped Jamie and
Forrest further improve and develop the curriculum.
After a long day of working through our jetlag, the entire team along
with the Ahmedabad students were able to visit a village school in the
evening where we got to watch and participate in a traditional dance
class. To me, these village trips made the entire
trip worth it. Having the opportunity to interact with real Indians in
their homes gave way to connections that would never happen if I were to
visit India as a tourist. I think the entire team can agree that the
children were all lovely and their collective
optimism fulfilled us deeply. The evenings spent interacting with these
amazing children, motivated all of us to keep working on our project.
