We slept in late on what was a national holiday in the US
and in Ghana – Memorial Day in the United States and African Union Day in Ghana. ITTU was closed and we were unable to work in
the shop. We spent the morning and
afternoon at Kejetia Market, one of the largest, if not the largest, open-air
markets in Western Africa. Some of us
bought fabrics, but for the most part we just walked around the tight, crowded
alleyways and browsed the thousands of small shops. We ate lunch at the cultural center, and returned
to the SMS Guest House in the middle of the afternoon. Upon return, we held sub-team meetings to
prepare for the coming week.
