Day Four
Upon arrival at ITTU, the team was greeted by Debbie, a
KNUST alumna with whom we’ve been collaborating. The business team pretty quickly got into a discussion with her about many things, including what she will be doing during the pilot test. She was very excited about the prospect of
being a distribution manager, and was OK with the terms we began to talk about.
After a quick lunch, the business team
tackled a few big tasks; Peter worked with Ben and Anna on a sales and payment
tracking system, Wendy put together a user instruction manual for the grater
with some help of the advisors, and Ken put his engineering skills to use with
Rosy by disassembling, inspecting, and reassembling two of the Leeson motors,
one with new bearings.
While all this was happening, the grater and press teams were
very busy. The sparks were flying, even though the power was a bit intermittent,
and they were able to pretty much complete the building of a mechanized ADE grater
and work on design problems with the press.
The second grater for the weekend trip to PKK, a rural village within
the town of Konongo, was also quite close to completion.
